WaZoo Show:
Gorilla Script
Jim Westcott
Setting:
Como Zoo near gorilla cages/area. Both characters are in frame, with the gorilla in the background.
Characters:
Lonnie
KATZ TV reporter. In the style of Tom Lyden, KMSP/channel 9 reporter. Taller, thin, male who tries to be "cool." Dressed in sports coat, blue jeans, and "bad" Hawaiian shirt.
Tom "the urban forester"
Established WaZoo character. Middle-aged male, outdoors looking with a nerdish twist. Dressed with safari hat, and tan fishing vest.
Background/Extras – Director’s discretion
Assortment of characters who are giving Lonnie a non-verbal "tough" time, or are just trying to get noticed and on TV.
Script:
Lonnie:
Lonnie grooving right here at Como Zoo to get an answer for one of KATZ’s hippest viewers. And to lay the answer on us is the one and only "Tom the urban forester." (Looks at Tom and gives him a little pat on the back, and then puts arm around Tom’s shoulder – buddy, buddy look.) Tom "the urban forester," here’s what’s troubling our viewer: Why do gorillas have such BIG nostrils?
Tom "the urban forester" (initially gives Lonnie a blank look, and then turns towards camera with bright smile and a twinkle in his eyes.)
Lonnie that’s an easy one. It is because they have BIG fingers.
Lonnie: (startled, blank, disbelief look at Tom, LONG AKWARD pause, really does not know what to do or say – a strange place for him to be, finally looks at camera and gives a "salesman’s" smile)
Let’s flick it back to the studio.
